Culture, attractions
and entertainment

The Tateyama Kurobe alpine trekking route is very popular among tourists here. It runs through the Northern Japanese Alps and connects the capital of Toyama Prefecture with the city of Omachi in neighboring Nagano Prefecture. The route is famous for its beautiful scenery of the Tateyama mountain range, which, in turn, is located within the Chubu Sangaku National Park. Along the route lies the Boiling Valley, where you can observe the processes of volcanic activity. In addition, the highest hotel in Japan, the Murodo Station Complex, is located here, and the longest cable car in Japan, 1,700 meters long, connects Daikanbo and Kurobe. The route is open for trekking from April to November. In recent years, in the city of Toyama, baths using sea water from great depths (up to 300 meters) have become extremely popular; such water is considered very beneficial for health. The Thalassopia complex has both health baths, where you can improve your health, and invigorating, equipped Jacuzzis, intended primarily for relaxation. At the moment, this is the only complex in the world where thalassotherapy is carried out. The traditional samurai Toyama (or Azumi) castle is also located within the city limits. It was erected in the sixteenth century and reconstructed in the post-war period. The castle experienced turbulent times early in its history, becoming the scene of battles between the samurai clans of Hideyoshi Toyotomi and Sassa Narimasa. The city of Toyama also has a number of shopping galleries where you can buy local handicrafts, in particular traditional Toyama clay figurines. The shortest route from Tokyo to Toyama is by plane from Haneda Airport. Flight time – 1 hour.
