Hamarikyu-teien. In 1654, the third son of the 3rd Shogun, Tokugawa Iemitsu, captivated by the view of the vast ocean from which the morning sun rises, ordered an island to be built here and a park to be created. A tea pavilion, a gunpowder storage facility for fireworks, a lake filled with seawater with unique flora and many trees and shrubs made the island a real pearl of old Edo. You will see an example of the impeccable garden art of Japanese masters, lovingly preserved to this day, and a magnificent view of the newest part of Tokyo, located right in the Pacific Ocean.
Tsukiji is the world's largest wholesale fish market. This famous place wakes up the earliest in Japan - at three in the morning! It is here, before dawn, that freshly caught fish arrives from all the oceans and seas of the planet: majestic carcasses of bluefin tuna, luxurious pink salmon, sea shells of all possible types and shapes with their bizarre inhabitants, giant crabs bristling with powerful claws, long-whiskered spiny lobsters and thousands of other sea reptiles. . After the morning auctions, all this food is sent to restaurants in Tokyo and the rest of the world. A scenic journey through Daiba.
Deisan Historical Park, where you can see the remains of defensive structures. Not far from here is the futuristic Fuji TV building with its huge titanium ball, designed by the outstanding architect Kenzo Tange. Return to the hotel.

The first settlements here arose in the fourth century, before the arrival of Buddhism in Japan. Surprisingly, in the place where Osaka is now located, in ancient times, before the capital periods of Nara and Kyoto, there was for some time the nomadic capital of Japan. Then this settlement was called Naniva, and the capital moved to a new place with the next ruler.
Osaka, Japan's second city, therefore has a long metropolitan tradition, which, coupled with its economic strength, makes it a real rival to Tokyo.
There really is something to see here! Osaka is a true metropolis, with almost twenty million people living in its agglomeration. It is also the largest economic center of Western Japan. Trade has long been carried out here, so the trading spirit of the Kansai region, of which Osaka is the center, has always been contrasted with the metropolitan Tokyo spirit of the Kanto region. There is even a Kansai dialect of Japanese here!
The spirit of modern Osaka is embodied in the skyscraper-filled Umeda business district. The famous Umeda Sky building is located here, one of the symbols of the city, which consists of two towers of forty floors, connected by a bridge at the very top. On the roof of the skyscraper there is an observation deck resembling a hanging garden, which is called Sky Gardens, as well as a real observatory! Osaka's great past is now silently narrated by the city's main symbol, the famous Osaka Castle, or Osaka-jo. It was built at the end of the sixteenth century by the outstanding military leader Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Osaka Castle became his stronghold in the fight against the Tokugawa shogunate, based in Edo, now Tokyo. Surrounded by a water moat, the castle, which played a significant role in that era, is located on a stone embankment, with giant boulders placed at its base. The castle has eight floors, three of which are basements. Now there is a museum with a large exhibition of samurai armor, historical documents and other artifacts of those legendary times. Osaka is also home to the famous Shitenno-ji Temple - “Temple of the Four Heavenly Lords”. It was founded at the end of the sixth century by Crown Prince Shotoku in honor of the victory of Buddhist forces over Shinto forces during the era of religious wars in ancient Japan. The temple is considered one of the most important Buddhist shrines in the country - as the birthplace and formation of Japanese Buddhism.
And the famous Dotonbori Street is a kind of bridge between the past and the present. It appeared at the beginning of the seventeenth century. With its neon lights, Dotonbori resembles a river: “fashion victims” will find boutiques of the world’s leading fashion brands here, and gourmets will appreciate the highest level of Japanese cuisine in local restaurants. Here you can taste original Osaka cuisine such as “yaki-niku” (grilled meat and vegetables), “kansai sushi” (pieces of marinated fish served with rice), “tako-yaki” (slices of boiled octopus baked in dough) ) and, of course, the famous Osaka “okonomiyaki” (a kind of omelette made from noodles, meat, seafood and cabbage, smeared with a special sauce and sprinkled with finely chopped dry tuna shavings). It was thanks to the abundance of delicious food in Osaka that the expression “kuidaore”, unique even for Japan, was born, which means truly epicurean enjoyment of food while spending all the money on it.
Osaka is Tokyo's rival, the only city in Japan comparable to the “Capital of the East” in terms of history, economics and importance to the country.

Tour of Kyoto with lunch of Japanese cuisine.

Kyoto is the ancient imperial capital of Japan, one of the oldest cities in the country, the entire historical part of which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This city with refined traditions was founded at the end of the 8th century and served as the residence of emperors for almost twelve centuries. Among the many temples and sacred buildings in Kyoto, one can highlight the Sanjusan-gendo temple, built back in 1164 and today it is the longest wooden structure in the world. In the long central hall, in the twilight, there are 1001 statues of the goddess Kannon the Merciful. Then - lunch at a traditional Japanese restaurant. Another Kyoto gem is Kinkaku-ji, the "Golden Pavilion", an elegant three-level temple whose roofs are covered with thin sheets of gold. The building is topped with a traditional bronze phoenix. The temple is located in a magnificent walking garden from the Muromachi period. Nearby is the world-famous philosophical Zen rock garden of Ryoanji: fifteen stones seem to be randomly scattered on the white gravel, but from any point only fourteen are always visible... There is also the Silver Pavilion in Kyoto - Ginkaku-ji, another masterpiece of sacred Japanese architecture. The temple is gracefully reflected in the adjacent lake... And with the open veranda of Kiyomizudera Temple - the Temple of Pure Water - hanging over the abyss, a stunning panorama of Kyoto opens up. There is also a legendary source of wish fulfillment: if you make a wish and take three sips, then, according to ancient belief, this wish will definitely come true...

Nara, an ancient city located just outside Kyoto, half an hour's drive from Kyoto, was the capital of Japan from 710 to 784, that is, before the capital was moved to Kyoto. More recently, in 2010, noisy celebrations were held in Nara to mark the 1300th anniversary of the city's acceptance of the status of the imperial capital. The Nara era is the time of triumph of Buddhism that came to Japan from the Asian mainland, the time of the creation of majestic architectural structures, such as the Todaiji Temple of the Kegon Buddhist school, erected in 725. Todaiji, which translates to "Great Eastern Temple", is the largest wooden structure in the world. Like many man-made structures and natural beauties in Japan, this temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The main deity of the temple is the Buddha of Endless Light - the embodiment of the sun, a 16-meter bronze statue that cannot be photographed.
In general, Nara was built very thoughtfully, based on the principles of Feng Shui, in the image and likeness of Changyan, the capital of China during the Tang Dynasty.
Nara Park, which surrounds Todaiji and a number of other temples, has been home to deer for a long time. According to legend, the first emperor of Japan, Jimmu, the grandson of the sun goddess Amaterasu, descended from heaven on a deer in this place. Since then, all local deer have been considered descendants of that first deer. Despite the fact that they are wild, we can say that they are completely tame. Tourists happily feed them special rice cookies, which are sold throughout the park. All you have to do is reach out your hand with a cookie, and the sound of hooves will be heard from different directions, and in a matter of seconds, the muzzles of deer will poke into your palms, begging for a treat! Here, in Nara Park, there is also the Kofukuji Buddhist temple, built back in 669, where one of the tallest pagodas in the country, the 55-meter high Goju-no-to, which is a symbol of the city, is located.
...Nara preserves the memory of those legendary times when Buddhism was just coming to the Japanese islands, hitherto inhabited by Shinto gods and demons... Transfer to Kyoto station and transfer to TOKYO.

Excursion to Nagano and the Snow Monkey Park.
Full description
Meeting with a guide at Nagano station and tour of Nagano.
The ancient Buddhist monastery of Zenkoji, built back in 644 AD. Since then, the monastery has been a center of pilgrimage, where people come from all over Japan. Moreover, the city of Nagano itself arose as a temple structure, which is why its low-lying areas in the old days were called the “Zenkoji Plain.” The main prayer hall of the monastery is included in the list of National Treasures of Japan, and the main object of worship here is the triptych sculpture of Amida Buddha, usually hidden not only from the eyes of pilgrims, but also from the monks themselves. It is believed that seeing it alleviates illnesses. The sculpture is put on display only once every six to seven years. Transfer to Dzhugokudani. In the depths of Honshu, the largest island of Japan, there is an amazing place where in winter, among the snow, you can see... monkeys! These are the famous “snow monkeys”, or Japanese macaques, the only primates that can live in sub-zero temperatures. But this place, “Jigokudani Monkey Park,” became famous throughout the world not because of the frost-resistant monkeys that lived here from time immemorial, but when people noticed that they were taking... baths in the local thermal springs! These monkeys several decades ago began to imitate human behavior, having seen enough of how their elders gathered their wits and enjoyed the waters of local mineral springs.
You will take an amazing excursion. Imagine: a whole flock, consisting of dozens of furry individuals led by leaders, can sit all day long in the scalding hot waters of an onsen! Due to the peculiarities of the local mountain microclimate, the temperature here can drop to -20 Celsius - despite the fact that the water in the thermal springs is heated to +43 degrees! Such an excursion is good at any time of the year - but it is in winter that this spectacle is truly mesmerizing: due to the frost, monkeys can sit in hot water all day, and only a few specially selected flocks of individuals go in search of food for everyone. Recently, however, their task has become much easier: numerous tourists feed the monkeys themselves. Moreover, on winter evenings you can see another amazing sight: monkeys begin to bury food supplies in the snow at night. Thus, they use as many as two achievements of human civilization: hot baths and refrigerators!
This park, by the way, is the world's largest snow monkey reservation, located near the town of Yamanouchi, in Nagano Prefecture, which is famous for its ski resorts. The Winter Olympic Games were held here in 1998. The best season to visit is late winter or early spring, when severe frosts have already subsided, but the paths are still frozen and not so muddy. Although the name “Jigokudani” itself translates as “Valley of Hell” due to the numerous hot springs gushing out of the ground, these places have become a true paradise for snow monkeys! .
